BILLY THE KILL

Far from the uproar of electric guitars and the tattooed bad boy cliché, some artists still know how to make themselves heard and listened without tricks or sound overkills. With the help of well-calibrated vocals and guitar chords, they are able to give birth to delicate every day life songs. Their life, as the life of others, evolves around essential matters touching to the heart, the guts and sometimes the balls. Despite his youth and his looks of eternal looser, BILLY THE KILL is in the process of making a name for himself in the songwriters' world. Starting as the lead-singer and guitarist in the band BILLY GAZ STATION (Kicking Records 2008), BILLY THE KILL made waves in the independent rock audience when taking the bass on the missed SECOND RATE in 2003, playing all around France. Aged only 25, the guy went for the full-time/full-blast rock'n'roll experience. With no income, no degree, no luggage except for his acoustic guitar, a few boxes full of discs and a pair of worn-out Converse, he slowly made his way into the land of one-man-bands. BILLY THE KILL stroke first shot with his surprising first album, LOVE FORTUNE WHEEL (Nova Express 2006). It was a daring and risky bet. He could have been mistaking or some could have said the guy was only showing off. But from the first notes and vocals, all fears vanished like cigarette smoke, twisting and burning till the last second of the last song. With doubts turning to ashes, you could appreciate the instantly catchy songs, their soothing melancholy, and the unexpected quality of the singing.

Gifted with some hypersensitive lucidity, BILLY gives the impression of burning life at both ends with a perfect handling of the subject. Following his first solo gigs, time came to confirm these great promises and bring something out of all the accumulated trust. Led by the mythical and experienced Kaiser, Billy's second album, "JOY, SEX AND WAR" was recorded. With another mischief under his belt, he went straight from the studio to the tour van with BILLY GAZ STATION. Billy's life is about Punk Rock and hitting the road in a band or alone. He worn out the soles of his Converse between Angouleme and Besancon and pleased the pretty girls (and the less pretty) in the barns behind smoky clubs. This is how it goes. The guy made a deal with the Devil one night of boredom, and since, manages to turn his spleen into a beautiful asset. And here we are, left to glide over these soft melodies coming out of the guitar and voice of the kid. Sublime.
